Jul 31, 2003 : .com Domain Registrations Booming

📅 July 31, 2003 - The number of .com Web addresses registered has now reached its highest level ever, according to Virtual Internet (vi.net ), a European provider of Web hosting services.

According to the company, there are now 23,795,131 .com domain names registered worldwide, which is 477,657 more than at the previous height of registrations in October 2001. Following the Internet "gold rush", the number of registered .com domains dropped to 21.1 million in July 2002.
"What is good news for the domain name and hosting industry is that this is asteady, sustained increase and not a bubble," said Mike Gordon, managing director at Virtual Internet.
Based in London, England, Virtual Internet is part of the ActiveISP group, which boasts over 200,000 customers in 15 European countries.
