A message for Trey Gardner the owner.

This is not a review but we are planning for a month now to sign up with Green Geeks because we love the features that they offer in the reseller packages. I'm leaving another hosting company because of their servers crashing or having errors almost daily and takes my sites offline just about every 30 minutes. I am so disappointed with some hosting companies that I had to write here and see if I can finally get good service.

I have many joomla sites and I need them to stay online all the time. I'm reading many possibly organized positive reviews and numerous bad reviews. What I need to know is, can Green Geeks provide me with top notch hosting services. I'm a web site designer and provide hosting services and I need to keep my existing and future clients happy and thats why i'm writing directly to one boss from another. I know that every host have downtime but I don't need any hassles with customer service people or a service that already has overloaded servers. So please tell me if Green Geeks is #1 for me.

I plan on signing up this month and i'm for real if you guys think i'm not. I simply want to make sure I don't have to come here later and complain about the service i'm getting because i'd rather say good things. So Trey please email me and lets talk about signing up with you because i'd rather keep in contact with the owner of the service because I build my business from ground up and I always want to provide a high level of service to my clients. My Joomla sites are many which include my client's sites and demo sites. They work great. I have one site that sometimes can get up to 800 people on the site at once which can last 2-3 hours because talents who get coverage on that site will advertise their article in facebook etc and many people will visit my site. So please let me know if you can handle my Joomla sites well. I'm tired of moving from host to host. Too much labour and its time consuming. And no, I don't need a dedicated account, I need that resellers account you guys have because its all I can afford. Thanks and please email me at my email Trey. Everyone can email me if you like because I need to make a decision right away. Thanks.
This is Trey Gardner CEO of Green Geeks responding to these questions here.

I am grateful that I may be able to respond in public to these questions via this web site and I have written Tem (the person who posted the questions) back from my personal email which I am happy to do so and to get on a call with anyone who would like to do so. The reality however is that I hire people who are incredibly bright and whom are as capable if not more capable than myself on explaining technical issues and fielding these types of questions.

Our offices are available by live chat and email 24x7x365 and are available by phone M-F 9am EST - Midnight EST and Sat-Sun 9am EST - 8pm EST and anyone with questions such as these I encourage to call in & speak with one of our N. American support reps, they are friendly and highly competent.

Regarding Joomla web sites. We love Joomla as a program for people to build their web sites and online communities however not all Joomla web sites can be hosted the same way (which I will explain further down below).

As far as Green Geeks goes we have worked with the Joomla community for a number of years and we have made sure that our servers are always updated with the latest versions or Apache, PHP and MYSQL to ensure that the latest versions of Joomla are able to be supported by our servers. In addition we make sure to have the latest Joomla versions on our servers and available for our clients so that they have the most up to date security features and program features which Joomla provides. Also we have up to date how to videos and FAQ's for many Joomla functions. You can read more about how Green Geeks supports our Joomla clients at:

Joomla hosting - larger Joomla web sites:

For roughly 98% - 99% of Joomla web sites, GreenGeeks offers in our shared web hosting service plenty of everything to host Joomla web sites, meaning we offer enough space, bandwidth, CPU, RAM & IO usage to support almost any Joomla web site. In a shared web hosting service environment all websites within that shared server must rely on all the functions available and every shared web hosting service will have a cap on the CPU, RAM and IO allotted per customer so that all the customers have access to those resources.

Joomla is a terrific program to build your web site with, we also recommend taking a look at Drupal and Wordpress as well as Joomla, and Joomla users are able to add a wide variety of additional add-on features to their sites which allow visitors to that site access to those additional features and functions.

When a site (no matter if it was built with Joomla or any other program) has multiple features and multiple visitors accessing and using those features that site may end up using more (CPU, RAM, IO, etc.) which prevents other sites on that server from having adequate access to those processes (CPU, RAM, IO, etc.). When this happens the shared server is inadequate for that larger web site. Usually the web site owner is refunded by the shared web hosting company and is usually referred to a VPS ( Virtual Private Server) or a Dedicated server which is far more expensive and requires far more server admin duties including installing the software the server would need to run that larger site. This sounds like it may be the case which Tem refers to for his Joomla customer's site which has several hundred visitors all accessing the site at the same time and using many of those functions that the web site has for several hours. If there are enough visitors using many features it can cause a server load and require a higher level of server.

For years this has been a thorn in the side for hosting companies and for hosted clients as well, if a web site became too successful it would need to go to another type of solution which can be tricky and costly for the webmaster and the hosting client may lose that customer if they don't provide VPS or Dedicated server services. VPS and Dedicated services are more work and less revenue for the hosting company.

Several years ago cloud technology emerged and with it came potential promises to accommodate larger more robust web sites and for the past few years I have been working with some extraordinary developers to create a service which can accommodate these larger web sites within a cloud infrastructure which allows the hosted environment to grow as the site grows and to allow for large spikes in usage without any downtime or need to be moved to a new hosted environment.

Earlier this year I launched a new cloud based web hosting company which is geared towards easily accommodating larger web sites. That company is called SiteCloud.com and it does have a reseller's hosting section which would also work well for the person who posted here. You can learn more at SiteCloud.com, technicians are available the same hours as they are on GreenGeeks.com.

Thank you again for allowing me to provide my feedback to this post/question and since it is Friday today, to everyone out there Happy Friday and have a great weekend.

Thanks,
Trey
