I opened a Sitecloud account in October 2010. At first all went well, good support, sites running well. Had some problems from time to time with error responses (502), but generally I was happy. In January, I received notification that my account would no longer be hosted 'in the cloud' and would be moved to a shared server - the reason was Sitecloud was unable to overcome technical challenges to deliver the product they advertise - cloud based hosting.

Since being moved to the shared server (without being offered any other solution), I'm experiencing constant server downtimes on a random basis anywhere from a minute or 2 to 30 or more minutes. My testing shows an overall uptime of around 95%, so they don't meet their guarantee. With the random nature of the outages, it's simply not possible to run a production website using this host - my clients are tearing their hair out using a CMS that drops in and out of contact - lots of lost content. Sitecloud techs report the server as 'responding quite well'...go figure?

Just to warn others, I signed up for 3 years (BIG mistake), and have asked for a refund based on their inability to provide the product I originally purchased and the failure to meet their 99.9% uptime guarantee. The support staff (who were great on technical support BTW) say they'll pass on the request to senior people. I never hear anymore - not a denial or refusal, just nothing - good old fashioned stonewalling. Looks like I've got a great file storage account at this stage!

Overall - I've opened an account elsewhere, but will pursue a refund.

In the past I have responded to all of our negative reviews on this web site with a detailed follow up on the issues as we saw it at GreenGeeks and why we may have had a certain policy or situation which turned into a problem for our clients or for ourselves or for both parties. One thing that I have tried to do through these responses is to show consumers that we are a company (including myself) who cares about all our customers and that we work hard to make sure that all our customers' needs are met.

I hope that my past responses will give you an idea as to who we are as a company and the lengths we go to work with our customers. I will not be going into a detailed response on this person's negative review but I hope my past responses will show you that I do give a darn about what happens around here.

In web hosting, as with any industry, there are some businesses & individuals' requirements which we cannot support. Sometimes these cases will create disputes between GreenGeeks and some of our customers and some of these disputes find themselves here. In every case we work to be as fair to the customer as possible and to help them resolve their case with us or to assist them to move to a different type of provider.

As you will find in my past responses, in every case I have left my email, [email protected] and have asked that any customer who has an issue with our company and cannot find a resolution with our technical staff or our quality assurance team should contact me directly and I will get involved to make sure that any client's needs are met or that we do everything we can to assist the client and help them get to the right solution for them, sometimes for instance a client will need a dedicated server and we refer them to our server co-location center.

I hope that this entry to this client's criticism, while not directly speaking of their situation and our resolution will serve as an indicator of what as a company we can do for your web hosting needs and our attention to going the extra mile to service our clients.
