30 Day Guarantee A Scam/ GreenGeeks is not solvent enough to pay back $148.20 it owes customer. Sign of bad economy or bad customer service?

I signed up for GreenGeeks service on Feb 4th 2013 but my account was not activated
until the 6th because they wanted to verify my identity for the 148.20 I was being
charged for prepaying for 3 years of basic hosting services. (178.20-30.00 discount)
Their web site made it clear they had a 30 day money back guarantee and the
importance of service to GreenGeeks as a company. Two weeks later after a few failed
attempts to answer/resolve some basic service questions/issues I notified them that I
would like to cancel the account. The support individual that made contact with me was
very nice and suggested alternatives before I cancel the service as I still had 2 weeks
left.
Even with the upgraded service, (19.99/mo) I soon realized that I needed a little more
comprehensive a system and notified billing that I would like to cancel the account.
(2/25) A day or so later billing sent me an email saying that in order to cancel the
account I needed to follow some protocol and click on a link then respond to an email,
etc. I did that and after I didn't hear back, I wrote support demanding my money back.
Even though I had clearly canceled service a long time prior, the support individualetc. I did that and after I didn't hear back, I wrote support demanding my money back.
Even though I had clearly canceled service a long time prior, the support individual
(Greg) claimed I had exceeded the 30 days allotted and cancellation would forfeit ALL of
my 148.20 payment for the 3 years of service. This is where I think I must have touched
off a nerve: I sent back an email explaining that February 2013 had 28 days and not 30
so in actuality even IF I were to cancel that same day (3/6) i would still be within the 30
day. Well, a week has passed and this guy refuses to refund my money, changing his
reasoning, and basically saying that they don't have to refund my money because his
feelings are hurt i questioned his counting abilities. I am really disappointed with
GreenGeeks because they present such a different persona than what they actually act
out. I am willing to pay for the FULL retail cost of one month's worth of hosting but to
forfeit ALL 3 years even though I cancelled long before the deadline?! It just doesn't sit
right with me. I have a feeling that they don't have the money to refund me in which case
they should come out and say it. There's no shame in GreenGeeks having financial
difficulties because of the times. If they said, sorry we are going bankrupt at
GreenGeeks then i would accept it and move on. However, when people blatantly lie andand
deceive the people that work hard serving their country to earn the money they have,
that is NOT ok. I can easily contact my CC company and refuse the transaction but I
guess I am an optimist; Let's see if they can be honest and fess up to the truth! So
GreenGeeks is dishonest about their 30-day guarantee? So what if they don't have
enough money to pay back $148 of money they owe? As long as they are honest about
it I am willing to let them off the hook!
Hello, I apologize for the issues that you've faced with us.

Web hosting is a very high fraud industry, and we had to take extra steps to verify your identity to protect you, the card holder and our customers.

GreenGeeks is not in financial distress as this customer claims. We have been listed on the INC 5000 fastest growing companies in America list two years in a row.

The issue was related to the customer not providing the details to proceed with a proper cancellation. After being provided the proper cancellation request, the customer was refunded.
