Like another reviewer here, I have long been an EasyCGI customer. In fact, I am a reseller with 10+ sites hosted with them. Their migration to the "new platform" (perhaps they were bought out?) has been a living hell. I cringed when I got the emails announcing their excitement over transferring to this so-called new platform. And when it finally happened, site after site fell into one problem after another. I have had to deal with upset clients asking why their email wouldn't work, why their reseller accounts had disappeared, why they can't manage different aspects of their accounts. My master FTP account is gone…they don't have those any more! I now must maintain a long list of separate usernames and passwords to access my hosted accounts. Half the time, they will not load up to ftp. I came within days of losing two different domains, because the renewal function did not work. Email forwards largely fell apart due to some new way of formatting forwards. Web-based FTP left some of my subaccount users in a quandary. Every account I host was renamed by some random subaccount I had previously, and this cannot be changed. So to login to my Deathway.com account, I have to use some "biginc" (something totally unrelated to Deathway.com) as part of the access. This is the case in about half of my accounts. The username for the account for my own business is now the last name of one of my clients, and I have no option to change it! (confirmed by tech support, speaking of which…) The tech support is seriously lacking and appears to be outsourced. I have had one or two helpful ones (though they had to repeatedly say, "Sorry, but that feature is no longer available"), but most are totally uninterested and refer me back to the flawed support pages on their site. Speaking of which… They actually have 2 different recommended ways to set up email accounts in their help pages—and NEITHER worked for one of my clients.
EasyCGI once was a fantastic company. I started with them around 2000 when I lived in the area, and when I moved back to my hometown, I switched vendors to locals with EasyCGI being the only exception. They were that good. And now, I am looking into someone else to do my hosting, which I really hate to do. It will be a great deal of hassle. Yet, I don't see how it could be worse than remaining with what ONCE WAS EasyCGI.
