I bought a 3 year package including free domain registration and wordpress-hosting. After 1 year i received an unexpected mail that said the domain needs to be renewed each year (around 20$ p.a.) that i didn't calculated since the 3 year package stated domain registration was free inclusive. Turns out it was only free for 1 year in a 3 year package. I mean wtf...
It turns out that you have an unreachable wordpress-host if you don't pay the renewal fee on top. Now the costs are higher than stated - in my opinion that is lying.
Due to their TAC policy you can't cancel the useless wordpress-host and get a 2/3 refund either. You are basically forced to either loose the host entirely or pay the renewal fee.
I would suggest: Don't trust their sales and marketing offerings! Calculate around 20$ per year on top AT LEAST. Who knows what kind of tricks will come in the future.
The customer service is unwilling to provide a compensation either. They only tell you "that is how our policy is" and when asking for a renewal price they stated a price to me, which was higher (!) than on the webinterface if you click through the renewal process yourself.
