I decided to go with another hosting company when I realized how slow my new interactive websites were uploading! 😃 High uptime and convenient admin log. But really poor tech support. Several small sites on WP have been deployed, there are still no bells and whistles, the databases are empty, there are very few visitors per day. And every day the server goes off - "out of memory"

😠 Poor email support, underperforming VPS/VDS hardware (we are on shared). WE were also hit with a "site suspended due to excessive resource usage" email.

The worst offending is the support page, which contains outdated & irrelevant knowledgebase articles dating back to at at least 2010.

FAQ covering topics such as "configuration of Thunderbird email client" from 2012. How many clients run Thunderbird in 2019

😁 I've built and maintained websites on several ISPs for about 20 years. Green Geeks wins hands down. The service provided by phone or Live Chat is excellent. The documentation from support has been complete. I don't get unwanted telephone calls purporting to be just "follow-ups" but that really are telemarketing calls from the ISP.. I've had no reason to be concerned about technical issues. Good company and knowledgeable and considerate support staff.

I signed up for GreenGeeks service on Feb 4th 2013 but my account was not activated
until the 6th because they wanted to verify my identity for the 148.20 I was being

As a fulltime web designer, my clients trust me to suggest quality hosting, with good service and fast loading times. GreenGeeks had been bombarding me emails trying to get me to refer them business as an affiliate.

the Mastercard company think maybe my credit card could have been cloned, it took over 15 days to send another.

Meanwhile, the GreenGeeks hosting account was unpaid.

Solved the problem of the card, I made the payment, asking for a discount, to reactivate the service. Since it had been passed only four days of cancellation.

I started two years ago with GreenGeeks at a great promotional price. Renewal on the second year came at a 100% increase so I let them know via emai I wanted to transfer my domain name and cancel out my account (hosting). It took two weeks of daily emails to finally convince them to allow my domain to transfer to Godaddy. If your in this position keep pressing them. They are grabbing up the DrupalforDummies crowd they then they hold their "dummies" domains hostage for a ransom when they dont pay they overpriced hosting. Luckly for me my hard work and persistence payed off and now I have my domain! Horay!

I was so pleased about getting my domain and feeling that Green Geeks had more than sufficient requests to cancel my account after all we had been through I ignored the emails they were sending about a renewal invoice for the hosting ($100+).

I've been a customer for many years now, over 4. I've hold several accounts with them (shared and vps). Both of the services I have had with them, which are running many WordPress installations have been working great. My interaction with their support staff has been a pleasure to deal with and quite simply put, I have no complaints about this company.

GreenGeeks is an appropriate name for this web developing company. GreenGeeks lack the ability to properly respond to customer’s questions and requirements, making them inexperienced in dealing with the customer in an appropriate manner.

I requested a full refund from GreenGeeks and was offered a partial credit of $100.00 by Josh Dargie, GreenGeeks Support Manager, [email protected]. The full amount charged was for $148.20. The balance according to Josh Dargie was for processing fees associated with the account. I agree 100% with the other complaints, I spent myself talking to the customer service regarding my plan to purchase for hours (maybe days), and finally I was convinced to make the purchase, and I was Once I paid I got the funny email saying that my account was rejected, cannot be activated, please contact other activation department. Okay, I contacted them and no reply. Indeed I got only automated replies, but no real replies saying what went wrong or what to do. See the pasted automated replies at the end of this mail....

I just had to cancel my account after a few too many reliability and performance issues. My request was that the prorated amount of my remaining service be refunded back to me and that we both part ways satisfied. Josh Dargie fielded my issue and maintained a 100% robotic standpoint, spouting text from their FAQ and terms as opposed to handling my situation on a case-by-case. He also put the entire blame of my issue on me, attributing it to being a target for hacker attacks. I admit that this did happen, once. But well after other performance related tickets were submitted and I did quickly remedy the issue once notified as it was a security issue with WordPress.

GreenGeeks is one of those companies where they will patch the problem for you and move on, but when you are completely dissatisfied, they fall back on their policy text to "divest" themselves of you. There are so many other cost effective options out there to choose from.

I wanted to try a new host and shopped around a lot. My budget for web hosting is limited as I'm still developing ideas and there's no revenue yet directly from web presence. The tryout price for the first year is very good. Renewals are regular price which is normal.
I wish they were able to register ".co" but otherwise good deal.
Do pay attention to the "free" domain name small print. It is reasonable, but there are some potential costs if you cancel within 30 days or don't renew hosting after 12 months. I would recommend using a domain name that you choose solely to set up the account but are willing to abandon if you (for whatever reason) do need to cancel.

The primary benefit of Greengeeks has been the customer service - the 24/7 chat is great when you can't find an answer yourself. Email option has been quick too. I had one fairly serious problem with Wordpress resource usage that they solved quickly.

Right of the bet: I would highly recommend using GreenGeeks as a Webhost.

I have been a client with several host before switching my domains to GreenGeeks and in any single case I was frustrated with the service provided as well as the technical support.

While the hosting was sufficient to my needs, when I attempted to cancel them 4 MONTHS AGO they didn't cancel my account. This is now an ongoing issue where 3 different agents with them have refused to cancel my account. I am now filing fraud with BBB online and IC3.gov to attempt to get them to cancel service.

I've been a client with GreenGeeks for about 6 months. I had an 512 VPS and was spending $40/month for just one of my sites - was concerned about high traffic causing suspensions - GreenGeeks gave me a call and informed me of a service they have as an internal upgrade "Premium Ecosite". They showed me statistics of my VPS and to my surprise I was using less then 20% of the resources. And that my site could fit on this Premium Plan... The amazing thing its only $19.95. THAT'S $20 SAVINGS!!! My sites running faster and I got a bunch of free addons as well... This was amazing. Confirms I chose the best host possible. How many other hosts worry about clients and their payments compared to getting rich off us. I've also decided to start using their affiliate program. 😠 GreenGeeks is the worst hosting I have ever come across.
I am so sorry I ever switched to GreenGeeks hosting. I run a dozen websites myself and paid top dollar for hosting and had several hosts. I wanted to combine all my websites onto a single server and thought why not get a reseller account and sell one to me and resell the others to cover my hosting costs and make some money too. I loved the idea of green hosting.

I signed up with GreenGeeks at the seed reseller level. My plan was to move my websites and begin selling hosting and increasing my reseller plan as my customer base grew. I spent the first month transferring all my operations over to their server. Then just as the 30 Day money back guarantee ran out all heck broke loose. I had 7 websites transfered and completely operational when out of nowhere hackers started taking down each and every site. I started with GreenGeeks several years ago when looking for a more eco friendly host. I was coming from a web hosting provider that was down all the time. Keep in mind that I have no idea how to transfer a web site, so I asked GreenGeeks if they would... they said YES! So I gave them a shot. In 24 hours, my site was migrated and running on their servers. I didn't do anything at all to make this happen, except for purchase their service.

My WordPress blog outgrew their shared hosting, and so I needed to move to a VPS, something with more power. Once again, no idea how to migrate a site... their technical team did it all for me!

Since moving to GreenGeeks, I've never had any major issues. When I did have any issues, I was able to get them resolved in a very timely fashion!

Due to using GreenGeeks and their disgusting customer support I have managed to have my domain stolen.
I had my domain registered with them and a hosting plan.
After 6 months and several support requests regarding the lack of speed which went unresolved I decided to move the hosting to another provider. Speed improved immediately with the new provider.
After 12 months had elapsed I was sent an email from GreenGeeks that I would be billed for another 12 months automatically when the 12months expired.
I emailed GreenGeeks to say I did not want to continue with the hosting where upon they cancelled my account including my Domain registration.

😞 I'd like to caution anyone considering Green Geeks. There are plenty of hosts to choose from with reasonable technical stats, and if you are the type of person who occasionally makes a mistake or misunderstands something you'd be better off somewhere else. I have been hosting with them for almost 2 years at this point, and have called in about issues a handfull of times. Not once have I felt good when I got off the phone.

They boast outstanding customer service on their front page, but every phone call leads to an operator saying "I'm sorry, you'll have to fill out an online ticket. I can not help you over the phone." More than once, I've gotten really condescending answers to my tickets that were not even addressing the real issue. When I had a billing issue and didn't notice there was a problem for a couple of months, they refused to refund the months of service that I did not use.

😠 Green Geeks SUCK!
green geeks suck, they wiped out my membership files in 48 hrs they said it was file storage and gave me 48 hrs to move them, but I didnt get their email, no support ticket as they claim....but what is the lowest act of low, is they transferred this site and installed it and at now time did they mention the word "file storage" in all my support tickets getting my site installed not once did they mention this, i asked for a backup today..there reply was "we dont keep back ups of this" they have ruined my membership site. It has taken two years of my life getting it to this and they have wiped me out in 48 hours. I have never in my life dealt with such incompetence.

😁 The best host I've been with!
I've had my share of hosting providers in the past from good to absolutely horrible. I decided to use GreenGeeks when a friend of mine, who is also a customer suggested that I switch over to GreenGeeks. So, after my term was up with another hosting provider who was already good, I didn't think that GreenGeeks could blow me away any more than my existing host. I was wrong!

I've been with GreenGeeks for over a year now, and recently my WordPress blog was hacked. I didn't know what to do and as stupid as I was, I didn't have any recent backups, so it was a total disaster for me. I gave it a shot and contacted GreenGeeks for some assistance. One of their techs was able to revert back to an older copy of my site and bring it back up for me! That right there made me realize how awesome GreenGeeks really was!

😁 I've been a customer of GreenGeeks for over 2 years now. If you're looking for a great host that's reliable with excellent technical support, then stop looking and start signing up! I came across a problem a few times and using the live support chat the issue was resolved in real time, within about a few minutes.

GreenGeeks also gives you access to a wide selection of third party software that's easily installed with 1 click, which I like very much! I don't have to get too deep and dirty with the code to get something I want.

GreenGeeks is also a environmentally friendly host, and that appeals to be very much because I am a nature nut! Even if you aren't, you could still be helping the planet by going with GreenGeeks, because technically they are very good too!

You get what you pay for, and for as little as I pay with them, I get a lot! Totally recommended

😠 Well I have been with greengeeks.com since 05/31/2010. I signed up for a Sprout reseller account. I have about 3 sites in development and 9 live sites (which are currently down) Up until this point I was very pleased with there service.

About 2 weeks ago I received an email from greengeeks about an "Abuse Violation" that one of my sites was sucking up 90% of the servers CPUs and had ben suspended. This made a little sense for the site was running magento. I was told I could either move on to a new host or upgrade to VPS.

I decided to go with 512 MB VPS. and was told that this should be sufficient to run the site. and that I would be pro rated. (yeah right)

I had moved the site over and it continually crashed from the memory exceeding. I asked for help on this matter regarding DNS, and settings and received either vague responses or responses that pertained to one thing I would ask of in an email. I have asked our top support team members to look into Chris' critique here regarding the magento site & it's usage of system resources. We do monitor clients' accounts and how they are preforming on the servers so that no one (or few) sites could cause a major slowdown to the other clients on those servers and in some cases we are forced to suspend the account until we figure out why that site is causing issues on the server. Sometimes sites can spike in CPU usage and we must make sure that our services are working correctly for all of our clients.

At the time of writing this I see that Chris still maintains his reseller account with us and is active.

As always we will work to make sure that all of our clients are satisfied and that those clients which may have issues with their sites which are causing issues to the servers that we work with those clients to bring the accounts in good standing with the server.

😠 I was very excited to find SiteCloud. They looked like the perfect host. I want Rackspace Cloud quality, but not at their prices. I figured SiteCloud was the one.

I tried to register my first domain with them, but canceled before I made a payment on PayPal because they do not give you the total cost of the annual or 2/3 year plan until you get to the Payment Gateway. Once I got there, I did the math and quit out. This should have been a no sale, but with SiteCloud they send you an order confirmation as soon as they hand you off to the Payment Gateway (CC or PayPal). I received an email that they need to contact me by phone to verify my account. This was 2 days later. I didn't pay anything, so I told them to just cancel the order in their system. OrderID=1533.

I still had faith in SiteCloud and thought it was time to turn it on, but go with the month-to-month plan as that made more sense for me right now. So I completed the process once at 5:37pm, but when I got to the PayPal [read more...]

😁 My site has been hosted with GreenGeeks for the past 2 years. I am a web designer and I use their service to display my work to my clients, so uptime and reliability is absolutely crucial. I've been with about a dozen other hosting companies and none of them stand up to the level of service that is provided by GreenGeeks. The CEO is actively engaged in what is going on, which is something that is rarely seen in this industry.

The technical support is North American. I love the fact that I can speak to someone that completely understands the language. It makes it for a less frustrating experience. They are very smart and helpful.

GreenGeeks is definitely a great place for a business to host its web site. If you're looking for a reliable company, these are the guys to trust your business with.

😠 I opened a Sitecloud account in October 2010. At first all went well, good support, sites running well. Had some problems from time to time with error responses (502), but generally I was happy. In January, I received notification that my account would no longer be hosted 'in the cloud' and would be moved to a shared server - the reason was Sitecloud was unable to overcome technical challenges to deliver the product they advertise - cloud based hosting.

Since being moved to the shared server (without being offered any other solution), I'm experiencing constant server downtimes on a random basis anywhere from a minute or 2 to 30 or more minutes. My testing shows an overall uptime of around 95%, so they don't meet their guarantee. With the random nature of the outages, it's simply not possible to run a production website using this host - my clients are tearing their hair out using a CMS that drops in and out of contact - lots of lost content. 😠 For some of my websites, I switched from Hostmonster to Sitecloud in December of 2010. I moved the websites myself, and had only a few minor snags and the customer service was good.

My websites worked for about 2 weeks. Then the server started going down all the time. It was like this for about three weeks,then the CEO sent an email out that they are changing the type of hosting and the servers in order to have a stable service - so no more cloud hosting as advertised, but now regular shared hosting, so what about all the promises? Not to talk about the homepage of Sitecloud still promising cloud hosting?
Anyway, I guess the change was made, but no improvement. I kept sending tickets after tickets, and as time went by, I even started getting all kinds of lies as a response. 😠 I moved to greengeeks because I was experiencing too much downtime with my previous hosting company. Now it seems that not everything is as the adertise! I run two moodle and one Joomla + coppermine picture gallery on my site. Now greengeeks are threatening to DELETE all of my resorces, students work and pictures because as they state the class it as "file archiving". BEWARE, not all is as it seems! I am extremely dissapointed, harassed, and stressed over this situation, especially in view of the fact that they advertise all of these features namely namely content management systems like moodle, joomla, etc, and now it appears they are not happy with customers using these for their intended purpose!

😁 It seems like a long time ago, but I came to GreenGeeks after a horrible experience with another budget web host. My site would be down all the time, and I would get the run around regarding the reason why the site was down. I got fed up and started looking for a new host. That's when I found GreenGeeks. I gave them a call and immediately my call was answered and I was talking to a knowledgeable sales rep. What sold me was the fact that they would move the site completely over for me, without me getting involved. That's a great deal because I have no idea how to move my site. 😁 I normally do not post reviews on sites, but I had to take time to share this with the world. I've been hosting with GreenGeeks for over a year now and recently, I accidentally deleted my entire site from the server. I had no idea what to do as I didn't have my own backups. I called in their tech support and got Jeff, who was very helpful. He told me that they could help me restore my site files. In a matter of minutes, my site was and files were completely restored from the nightly backups!

I never really trusted some features, only because it sounds too good to be true, but it's really nice to see that it actually sounds good because IT IS true!

😁 My experience with GG started in 2009. I run a eco-conscience business and it was a natural fit for me to select GG to host my site. At first, I thought that GG was full of BS in their commitment to the environment, but after reading more and even checking up with the places, I found that everything they say is in fact true! That goes a long way for me, because it's one thing to say you're green, it's another to actually be green.

My hosting experience with them since I have started has been superb and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The servers are very reliable and fast, I have yet to experience a slow down or outage. I've been confused sometimes, especially at the start when I migrated my site (since I have never done it), but the GG staff took care of my migration from start to finish... 😞 I have been using greengeeks for a while now and I have been very satisfied up until this point. For the past two days 12/14 through 12/16 I have been having nothing but issues with greengeeks.com.

To their credit whenever I have an issue Vance K usually resolves it quickly and in a timely manner.

But for the past two days I have been getting nothing but excused about the issues that I am experiencing with greengeeks. It started out by all of the websites I have hosted going down, 7 in all. They all went down at the same time so I contacted them and spoke with a David who doesn't seem to know what he is talking about but anyway he told me that they had an abusive user on the servers where my clients are hosted and about 10 minutes after our conversation the issue was resolved.

😁 Signed up to GreenGeeks about 2 years ago after a disastrous experience with a previous web host. I'm coming up for my renewal and will definitely renew. A few months ago, my web site got hacked, probably my fault because I had some out dated versions of Wordpress, but when I contacted technical support, they helped me right away by reverting my site back to a version before it got hacked. This saved me a lot of time and hassles. They did it for free too! Now that's customer service. Great company, great experience and great price. Keep it up!

😉 First I need to be clear. I have not hosted with SiteCloud, but it requires this to be answered.

I've checked around, (and around and around!!) reading as many web site reviews, for many different web hosts as possible, and decided to go with SiteCloud for hosting my web site.

So I e-mailed them 3 questions, (they were very prompt responding!), but they only answered 1 of the 3.

So I reread my original e-mail and thought maybe my questions weren't clear enough? or maybe they thought they weren't questions?, and e-mailed them again.

Again they were very prompt responding, but I still only received 1 out of 2 answers......so now I'm hesitant about paying the high price for a 'month-to-month' fee to see if we suit, prior to paying for a longer, locked-in lower monthly fee.

They were very nice, but I decided to try another host on a month-to-month basis. (for now, anyway)

I have to say I'm really disappointed.

😠 Green Greeks are Trash. They portray themselves as ethical, environmental. When really they are just Capitalist's cashing in on your environmental beliefs. There are many alternatives to this company.

I switched to a company called EZPZ in the UK after my 13 month nightmare with GG, I thought many of the excuses were normal.

They blamed by SITE, they blamed too many images, bad configuration. When I did some research, they had put me on a shitty overloaded server. Not only do they charge the most, they do not re-invest the profits in good technology and keeping their clients happy. Things started to get bad after 12 months and mistake was to renew my account for another year, thinking that if this was not resolved, they would refund me pro-rata. They did not even have the honor to do that...

This is a trash company. I will be glad when they go bust.

He had an issue with one of his web sites (he hosted several with us) and that web site was using a script which is fully supported by our servers but which had an issue related to a bad plugin or poor configuration on Jeremy's part. Our tech and admin teams did try to help Jeremy but the communication and the assistance by our team was unable to finally assist Jeremy as his site continued to have the issue he had created.

Jeremy signed up in August of 2009 for a 2 year plan and 14 months later decided to cancel. We have a 30 day money back guarantee here which we honor however after 30days (which we make very clear in several areas of the web site) there is no prorated refund which he expected. 😁 Simply put Green Geeks is awesome, I have two business sites hosted with them and the service is great, the servers are always fast, solid Cpanel, feature rich hosting package and the customer service is really good, easy to contact and quite helpful.

I wont bother re-listing all their features you can read that on the site but what I do want to do is put your mind at ease, if youve been killin yourself trying to find the right host well you found it, it doesnt get much better then green geeks and its eco friendly, what more could you want?

Ive tried several other hosts in the past and have left unsatisfied but green geeks has been great and I fully recommend them to everyone.

My only complaint is that coupon code, they wont apply it unless you contact them and ask them to honor it, but its only a minor incontinence.

😠 Worst service. Email always down or inoperable. There is no phone customer service. All you get are emails back and forth, and lots of misunderstanding. Even now that I canceled my account, I got no refund for the months left on my account that I paid for. They will not grant me access to the domain name to move to a better hosting service (Go Daddy), even though it is more than one year and the domain name is mine!
They have been rude and unhelpful every step of the way. I like Go Daddy (and Go Daddy is hosted and serviced in the U.S.).

😁 I first heard about SiteCloud from a friend, who said that the hosting would be awesome for my busy blog running on Wordpress. I was very very nervous because hosting company's always talk the talk, but rarely walk the walk. I was really excited when I started to see what SiteCloud really was doing. Their infrastructure seems the way it was suppose to be and so I was looking forward to it.

My site got on the Huffington Post, and I received hundreds of thousands of hits.... my site never went down, it never got suspended! It survived that much traffic and didn't even come to a crawl.

😠 Spend one day reading and researching ontheir site.
When wanted to move my site they forced me to use credit card which I refused, since they advertise “proudly accepting PayPal”.
They told me, currently they having issue with PayPal (might be possible) but why I should suffer because of that. I asked them to move my site believing they will fix issues and fulfil their promise to me to accept PayPal. But they refused. After researching all other reviews probably is better to stay away from empty promises. Just look background on their site it is 500kb, ouch.

😞 I have been hosted at GreenGeeks for almost a year during my time there I have experienced consistent DNS errors causing problematic downtimes exceeding the advertised 99.9% up time guarantee. These errors happen almost daily, and at least 2-3 times a day, lasting from a few minutes up to 10 minutes.

Current Server Status as of this writing*:
Server Load 7.62 (8 cpus) (!)
Disk /dev/sda5 (/) 81 % <CAUTION>

*These stats fluctuate, and can be higher or lower than the above. These are just a small snapshot of server at the time this review was written.

I also have experienced extremely heavy server loads, unexplained 505 errors that mysteriously fix themselves, MYSQL data corruption, among a slew of other problems. In fact at times even the CPanel has been inaccessible due to server timeouts. These over loads and errors are commonly blamed on abusive user practices. But that is no excuse in my opinion.. I have had my server administrators check out the servers of all the Chad's we have and have asked our technical representatives to look for any and all communication from these customers especially around the time when this review was posted.

Their final report of the server and these claims don't jive however I dont discount that there may have been at one time or another for this customer a slowness on our servers for a short period due to an abusive user and the person who was the abusive user may not have known that they were abusing the system until we shut them down.

😞 Have tested many many host providers. I own my own web design and development company. Been in this industry for 20+ years, rarely post as i feel its a complete waste of my time and energy, i just move on but i have read the response from AC - andrew@t and i just had to comment. We setup a reseller package at GG 15+ days ago, awesome features, good response time to support questions, but man their servers are painfully slow! Dropped connections was very common. FTP crapped out all the time. It is really disappointing, i did my homework (or so I thought) on this company. 😞 I really wanted to like Green Geeks. REALLY REALLY wanted to.
But, I'm just disappointed.
I was attracted to GG because of the 300% carbon footprint offset statements, great pricing, advertised 99.9% uptime, and the fact that they are colocated closer to me than my other host (hostgator).
My problems began almost immediately after signing up. Clients were calling me with complaints about unavailable sites, I was getting site unreachables (some network-based, some server-based), and sporadic slow response times. I emailed support, and they told me it was an abusive user who had been dealt with. I thought, "Okay, good, they must be on it!"
But, the problems were not resolved. More outages, more complaints. More emails to support. More "abusive users". I figured I just needed to give them some time, but just to be sure, I decided to engage a 3rd party monitoring solution to help track response time and uptime.

They were both on the same reseller server at the same time of these comments and there were some issues according to our admins around the time of these reviews. I do apologize to anyone else on that server who may have been affected at that time. There were no outages in the logs however server loads were high due to a few clients the admins had let a little too mush leeway for usage and it caused an issue with the server.

😁 I run a fairly large blog powered by Wordpress. My site got "CPU throttled" by a shared hosting provider and it constantly did so, this was so bad for my site because every time I got onto Digg, my site would be slowed down. I needed a faster service. I checked MediaTemple and a few others, but their prices were too much not to mention that they did not have cPanel.

SiteCloud was the best option and I definitely made the right choice. My blog loads very fast. Support moved my site over quickly and I didn't have to do a darn thing except provide them access to my old hosting account.

Definitely a great company and a great product. Nothing like it out there from my searches!

😁 Wow! I've been looking for a true load balanced cPanel cloud hosting provider for such a long time. I didn't even know it existed! All the other cPanel hosts have all their stuff on one machine and that makes things slowwwwwwwwwww. I didn't believe SiteCloud at first, I thought it was just some marketing gimmick... but I signed up, it definitely was cPanel and when I ran a phpinfo test, I could see the web servers changing as I refreshed! I moved my site that constantly crashed at a normal cPanel host (won't name names), and it's considerably faster!

Very glad I found these guys. The service is incredible... and I didn't have to fork up $150/month for Mosso nor did I have to set anything up!

😁 My time with SiteCloud started a few months ago after my previous shared hosting provider suspended me because of excessive usage. I needed something much more scalable than shared hosting and found SiteCloud. I decided to give them a try and since then have upgraded seamlessly. I run a fairly busy blog and I absolutely need Wordpress to run fast... this does, even without supercache! Which I found amazing! They did run into some issues a few weeks back, but since they said they made major changes, very fast and reliable. Good service, good price, easy to use, and best of all its cloud hosting. Go with these guys if you're running a small or busy site, they'll be able to accommodate you. They did for me!

😁 I'm a new reseller in this industry, so I am still learning. I signed up with SiteCloud because of the growth opportunity! I didn't have to worry about buying and managing servers. Their sales staff reassured me that this was the solution I was looking for. Like others here, I started facing issues with 503 errors and other issues related to performance and reliability. I was assured there was a fix, although little details were given about what it was. A few days ago, they actually applied the fix and all I can say is wow! My customers emailed me and asked if I had done something because the sites were loading up blazing fast! I also received an email from SiteCloud explaining the issues they were facing with Amazon's infrastructure and what they did to fix it! Since then, blazing fast and those errors have gone away! They went through a rough patch, and now everything looks okay, if not better!!

😁 I signed up a few months ago in search of a better host. At first, the service was really awesome, fast and reliable however after a month or so, the reliability and performance went down the drain. I continued to get 503 errors and I had no idea why. When I contacted support, they told me that they had a fix for it and would be fixing it shortly, apparently it was a large issue. This morning I got an e-mail saying that the issues were fixed and since then, I see a noticeable increase in performance... reliability is yet to be seen... but so far no 503 errors.

I am giving them a good rating because they were great before. The customer service was upfront and told us they were on it to fix it, and they did it exactly when they said they were going to do it.

Stuff goes wrong, but they didn't run away from the problem, they tackled it and resolved it and that's what makes a company different and better.

I'll stay with them for now.

😠 I moved from Hostmonster to SiteCloud and it has so far been a big mistake.
They goofed up the site migration which I had to help them solve (corrupted file they did not download correctly), that took a few days.

Their Support ticket system is broken, wondered why I got no tech response, you must email them for help.

Seemed to work ok for a while until my viewers started reporting 503 sever and other error messages almost daily, just like some other posters here.
Sitecloud claimed nothing was wrong.

All sorts of other random problems with my SMF forum, and database access, presumably due to the 503 type issue.

For some time SiteCloud did not believe me about the 503 or other error messages, but after a few weeks it finally all died and I got Error 28 on phpMyAdmin, basically complete site failure for database writes. They finally admitted they had a bug in their implementation with Amazon and are looking into frantically as I type this.

We since moved to SingleHop and have found that their structure allowed us to do far more and with greater control. I was not personally involved with the SiteCloud support during the time of this claim however i dont discount it.

I can assure you that SiteCloud is far more advanced than we were and far better for larger clients than any other cPanel web host in the market today.

I'm glad I see Trey responding to complaints in this forum because that's exactly what i'm going to do.

Since hosting with sitecloud for about a month or so, i've had numerous issues:

1. Site migration wasn't too successful - support staff werent too helpful. I got a mail saying they've closed the ticket because they did not get my response when i've been hogging them both on chat and email. But my tech got it solved so i've dropped the matter.
My tech guy ended doing all the work and configuring stuff on our end. This time cost factored into expenses.

2. I'm facing intermittent 503 error messages (every 30 mins?) which hasn't been solved - chat with people like gerry, david and they'll tell you that its a "glitch on Amazon" and they're working to find the root cause of it. When will it be solved? - it will be solved SOON. my tech and I have been bugging them for at least 2 days to get this fixed. So sitecloud is new and they've issues. Fine. I am further looking into this complaint but from what I can tell someone found Linda's domain name attached to our DNS and posted this complaint without being associated with her account. This appears to be a fraudulent posting and we are investigating it further.

Mr Sebastien had an issue with his site running on our platform due to coding issues he had on his sites and which we asked him to fix. This does not however explain the slow responses that Mr Sebastien claims regarding our support personnel.

I have been working with our lead technical manager to review all of the communication we had with Mr Sebastien to find out if there were any gaps on our side for support services, we have found a couple of instances and have disiplined the individual we feel should have been more current with the support to Mr Sebastien.

😁 I usually never post on review sites if I am happy... I just recommend and pay the bill month after month, but these guys really charmed me and I had to talk about it! Firstly, I love the fact that they are green... I am a big nature freak and this hits close to home. They go out of their way to make going "green" cool. Secondly, when I moved to them over a year ago, I was having a incredibly difficult time keeping my blog up, my old hosting company would not and could not get my site to stay up, probably horrible servers or something. I used GreenGeeks' free site migration, which was a life saver. Within a few hours, my site was moved over and was running on their servers. 😁 I was looking to host on Amazon, but had absolutely no clue how to make it work, so I am really glad that I found SiteCloud. I was able to move my Wordpress blog over to SiteCloud very easily from my previous hosting company. Since moving to SiteCloud, I have seen great improvement on speed and reliability! I have spoken with Josh about this client and their claims of his responses as well as the downtime on s1.cloudwelcome.com, we have also spoken with our Amazon reps where we have our cloud infrastructure regarding any potential interruption in service and of all of the log files we have gone through there has been no interruption in service. I have emailed Felix, whose account name is Fegn L. to provide us with any stats that he has regarding any downtime he experienced.

😞 I hardly post reviews but this is one I promised myself I would make. It's been almost a year since I closed my account on GG and with no regrets. Their system is basic, nothing special to offer compared to most other hosts out there.

Coming from a customer service background I find I'm very patient with people on the receiving end, but with GG I was left with no option but to cut short our relationship.

One evening out of nowhere I got a message saying something to the effect of "This website has been suspended, please contact billing department".. not only was this embarrassing but it was also inaccurate. It gave the impression that my website had not been fully paid up for, even though I believe I had paid for the year.

After contacting their support I was told.. "The site was using excessive resources, causing high I/O on the servers. It no longer belongs on the shared hosting environment"

There is a reason why this person was suspended and then handed his money & files back and that is his site was too large to be supported by a shared web hosting company. In these comments you will see that he came to us from a Virtual Private Server which means he had a site that needed a VPS or Dedicated Server - which he asked our prices for and which we told him what the costs were.

I apologize but I have many posts in these areas talking about why larger web sites need larger solutions, this is a case of that where someone who should have been on a larger platform basically tried to downsize their costs to go to a shared host and it did not work for them.

😉 Wanted to host (shared) my wife's wedding photography website, but was told that they do not host images. I followed up with them to find out what they define as "image hosting" and to explain the low traffic volumes of the said site. I did not receive a reply.

Why then can users install Coppermine / Gallery if image hosting is not allowed?

To clarify image hosting, some people think that this means that they can store thousands or tens of thousands of hi res images in the folders of their web hosting service, never putting those images up into a web site to become part of a web site page but they want to upload these thousands of hi res images so their clients can obtain a login & pick which of these photos from their wedding that they like. This is file storage that are not web site files and this is not allowed otherwise you could have a couple of kids upload all their MP3s, all their burned movies, all their digital photos and a few people could take up the dick space intended to support actual web site customers.

There are online file storage companies available on the internet which are better suited to these needs.

😁 I moved over from Rackspace's cloud sites to SiteCloud, primarily because of the cost and also the fact that they did not have cPanel/WHM. The migration team helped me move my site from rackspace which went over pretty smooth. I've only been with Sitecloud for about 1.5 months now and have gone through several digg's, their stuff kept up! So, so far, so good. When i got the advertise mail from sitecloud.com i was so exiting , i am thinking "wow cloud on amazon ec2" for moderate price i jumped on the offer.
Big mistake in my case...
1-Have to pay 40usd for dedicated IP for 1 year twice price justhost or hostgator..anyway i took is not a big deal coz they install ssl for free.
2-they do not install ssl well, i contact them they fix
3-Take care of advertise the chat support is just a joke, exept if u want to sign in they are always saying "please contact the support by mail" they will cearly never help u"

Mr Sebastien had an issue with his site running on our platform due to coding issues he had on his sites and which we asked him to fix. This does not however explain the slow responses that Mr Sebastien claims regarding our support personnel.

I have been working with our lead technical manager to review all of the communication we had with Mr Sebastien to find out if there were any gaps on our side for support services, we have found a couple of instances and have disiplined the individual we feel should have been more current with the support to Mr Sebastien.

😁 I host my small jewelry shop through GreenGeeks. When I first started, I had no clue what I was doing and receiving help from my host was imperative to my decision to sign up. The sales team was very helpful in getting me the information that I needed to sign up and then the technical team was very helpful making sure I received everything I needed to get going. Installation of the shopping cart was a breeze. The secure certificate got a little bit tricky, but they got that taken care of for me pretty quickly. This host is great because they actually care about their customers, you can see this by the responses from Trey himself. They're also green, which is very important to me! Sign up with these guys! This is not a review but we are planning for a month now to sign up with Green Geeks because we love the features that they offer in the reseller packages. I'm leaving another hosting company because of their servers crashing or having errors almost daily and takes my sites offline just about every 30 minutes. I am so disappointed with some hosting companies that I had to write here and see if I can finally get good service.

I have many joomla sites and I need them to stay online all the time. I'm reading many possibly organized positive reviews and numerous bad reviews. 😁 I recently got suspended for "excessive" usage at another well known shared hosting provider and that's what prompted me to go look for a proper web host. Apparently, my site was using more than the allowed percentage of processing power at the old host, which got me booted. I'm so glad I found SiteCloud, since moving over, the site runs actually faster and their system can apparently handle it because of it's "cloud technology". If it continues this way, I am going to be a long time customer of theirs. However, so far, very impressed!

😠 I have been robbed. Their website STATES: https://www.greengeeks.com/web-hosting/green-web-hosting.php "Monthly Price $4.95/month Includes Free Domain & Setup" I have since been charge $148 for the full three years! A guy called and rushed through his script and never once confirmed the price. Now my rent check will bounce, my kids will go hungry and my lights turned off. 😁 I signed up and the rep said that I would get my account details in 10 to 15 minutes, I didn't get the login information in that time so I called their support people. I was surprised that I got someone within only a few seconds, and this was on a Sunday!!! The agent told me check my spam folder, which I did and it was not there. They resent the login information and I got it within a few seconds at the time. The rep didn't want to let me go until I was sure I had the information I needed. Now that's what I call customer service! It's refreshing! Very homely feeling too! Price isn't bad at all and obviously the service that I get for the price is worth every cent! Go with these guys!

😉 Just because i want to do something for environment, i started to sign up for greengeeks. The feature is good,unlimited space and bandwidth, but the customer service is just lack of knowledge and seems not to understand about hosting. Only level 3 support is the good cust service but it's not easy to contact them. Multiple times i alerted their team that the server load is more than 2 or 3, but they seems to say there is nothing wrong and yet my clients web started to slow down.

Overall, choose other hosting companies that provide knowledgeable cust service.

I have been going over the 30 separate trouble tickets that Benny submitted to our staff within the 2 1/2 month period he was a customer of ours. I have found no instance of any type that our staff did not fully and accurately answer Benny's multiple questions which included whether the pictures on our web site were our servers or pictures provided by our co-location facility SingleHop. In fact those pictures are of some of the servers in the Singlehop facility (incase you like Benny were curious about that aspect of our business).

I have gone over the tickets from Benny to our admins that the server loads were high and I have checked our records during those times on the server Benny was on RS9 and I have found no instances nor have our admins of the delays he referred to. 😁 I've moved to GreenGeeks.com for two reasons: I wanted my website to do a little something for environment, may it be only symbolic. I mainly come to GreenGeeks because of very disappointing experiences in the past with my former webhosting companies. 😃 Currently, I've been with GreenGeeks for about a month now, more or less.
Right now, I have no problems with downtimes, lag, or anything like that.

If I had to compare HostGator with GreenGeeks, I would pick GreenGeeks all the way, even though HostGator does provide good service, it just seems to be overpriced.
GreenGeeks provides unlimited space and bandwidth, but only limits you on how many accounts you can create. This feature I just love!

The price for the reseller is just amazing, well, just because it doesn't limit you on how much space and bandwidth you can use.
Their customer support isn't the best, but it still helps you out!

I have not experienced any downtimes ever since I've been with them!

😠 Watch out for these guys. Don't be fooled by their responses to complaints on this review site. also watch out for review sites that earn their money promoting a few "top" web sites.
Despite Greengeeks creamy response to my previous complaint they did nothing too help me. They took 2hrs to give Control Panel access back and insisted I debug Tikiwiki, an open source CMS/WIKI. They gave no help in this and couldn't even give the URL that caused the issue. They insisted I fix and only way I had was to disable Tikiwiki. After doing this it took 6hrs of emails and complaints to get access restored to my static web pages. The site is now up wihout Tikiwiki, just afew static pages, and I am looking for a new hosting service. They did help by providing a backup of the site for me.
Note that this "Suspension" happened exactly 30days after the site went live, a coincidence? Or does it have something to do with 30 day refund guarantee?

After learning about them through several of the top 10 sites and reading so many great things about them, I decided to give them a try. I was moving from another provider and have no clue how to transfer over, so I took advantage of the free migration service that they offer. 😠 Hi, WE recently move dto Greengeeks after reading good reviews here and having had a lot of downtime with previous service.
However this morning Greengeeks just took our web site offline with no warning and want us to pay for dedicated server. We have a simple web site using TikiWiki and a few users, maybe 200 visitors/week but Greengeeks claim we used more than 80% CPU all attributed to tiki-index.php.
This may be true, as tiki-index does keyword site search but it usually only takes a few seconds at most to search the site.
I think they should give us some warning and a chance to look to correct the site.

If you are using open source software and you don't know how much CPU time it will use be careful, your business web site could just disappear without any warning leaving you in a bad situation with your customers.

This isn't acceptable behaviour for a company that wants to retain customers.

😠 Reviewing a company when you're upset is probably the wrong thing to do, but since this isn't the first time that I've had issues, I feel totally justified.

As I sit here at four o'clock in the morning, I'm waiting to hear from customer support to find out why my account with my three little sites has been suspended. My account was paid over a month ago. Two of the sites are in framework stage - one has ten (count 'em) very patient subscribers and the other has none. My primary site is just building up subscriber traffic again because I moved to a new emailing company, and I haven't let everyone know that I'm back online and am ready to receive traffic.

So my account was suspended because of too much server activity. WTF???

This isn't the first time that this happened. I lost my site on several occasions before, all due, I was told, to other customers' problems which brought the servers down. Now, apparently, I'm one of those bad customers with my piddling little [read more...]

First let me say that it is always regrettable when we have to suspend a client's account because it is obviously upsetting to our clients. It is however necessary for us to suspend accounts when they are causing issues on a server so that the other customers on those servers are not compromised by another customers high level of usage.

Second is that we are still currently hosting Irene's web sites (at the time of this posting 3:15pm PST) and that the sites are live and we hope to be able to help Irene and support her web site projects. We do understand Irene's frustration however as we look at why this happened we may better understand how to avoid this in the future.

😁 I signed up for the sprout plan and the plan has been great so far. I have 6 sites that I have added this month with no problems. I can easily install a variety of applications. I've installed Joomla and Wordpress several times no problem.
I have had some problems trying to get Magento working on the server. An auto-install of Magento would be awesome and would save a lot of time!

The Green Geek customer service has replied to me every time w/i 20 minutes. I was quite pleased with the response time of support.
Everyonce and a while I will go through Live Support and they usually get my answer my question; when they cannot they just refer me to [email protected].

So overall, things are great. The next thing I am going to try and do is setup shared SSL. We'll see how that goes, considering some of the other comments below.

😁 I have just renewed my subscription with GreenGeeks and thought a 1 year period with them was sufficient for a review. Since signing up with them, I have had nothing but excellent service and actually am very impressed with the quality of service they they provide. It's something that I didn't have at my previous hosting provider (and the reason why I switched). They helped me move my site over, which was painless. Anytime I made the attempt to get in touch with their support, I have always been able to get someone that knew what they were talking about, which is also great! I had an issue with my domain transfer, but they quickly resolved that once it was brought to their attention. In the end, good service, good people, good price. I say go for it, you won't regret it.

😉 I am not a customer just yet, but I will be signing up with GreenGeeks. I am very impressed with the way that Trey Gardner, the CEO addresses complaints about his company. 😠 I canceled because of out-of-hours technical support which is mission-critical to me. I needed to sort out a number of problems at the weekend and the support was just not responsive enough.

Previous hosting companies have provided impressive 24/7 customer support via live chat (so you are not waiting hours between emails) but they are not Drupal specialists which is what I needed for this site. The 24/7 support via live chat is only at a very basic level which is mainly regurgitating FAQ links and then asking you to email technical support with anything above that.

A real shame as they seemed a really good ecological web hosting company.

It's also affordable for my clients. 😠 Not sure how has worked with this small company, they may have grate ratings but they have BAD staff with very bad attitudes, I am a reseller with them, I have now been trying to get a restore done of one of my customers.. . the support ticket has been logged 10 hours back, I have phoned them a number of times and they just do not care at all about you or your problems. Spoke to Jonathon he basically told me to bugger off and wait. He will do things when they have time.

I wanted to comment on Denny's complaint, I reviewed his ticket to ensure that our technical support department acted appropriately in this manner. Denny's business is in South Africa which is why there was a slight delay in getting back to him, the issue he had in terms of a client backup off the server would need to have a tier 3 admin take care of that. We have admins who are employed around the clock but the after hours admins (Midnight - 8am PST) are employed to take care of the servers and make sure that they are running properly and that the nightly backups are taking place as they should.

As with all our customers and resellers we recommend that they backup their own web site files at every opportunity so that they can have a local backup and to not rely solely on the backups on our servers. We have an FAQ regarding this instructing all our clients to backup to their own [...]

😁 The quality of service that I have received over the year that I have been with them has been nothing but excellent. Their uptime is terrific, their customer support is always there and responsive. 😠 Destroyer of business! Nothing but problems! Horrible support. Aside from the dns server crash and repeatedly blacklisting my access isp so I can even view my own site, spamblock after spamblock destroying my business!

😃 So far I have no complaints with Green Geeks hosting. The control panel is full of features and fantastico is jam packed with free software. I have experienced no down time or server slow downs, since opening my account. PHP has a lot of extentions installed, all housed on an reliable Apache OS server. Mail server is reliable and so far have had no downtime in that area either.

My only real beef is the signup process was a pain.

I signed up at 8am, was told I would get a confirmation email and a telephone call to confirm my account. Since my email stated I could call them to confirm, I decided to go ahead and get a jump on it and call them at 9am EST (when they open). So, I called them, confirmed my account and was told it would be 30 minutes to an hour for the site to come online. I accidentally deleted all my files and technical support was able to retrieve my files and help me restore, this wasn't part of their service but they did me the favor. I have no complaints with their service. Excellent speed and uptime, my customers haven't complained to me once about that. Great host, very much recommended.

😠 This is the worst service I have ever feet. They come with excuses if they never have errors. Although their server often makes down often. They write to you as an amateur. Looking at this client's tickets I found the latest one which corresponds with the date of this complaint. The issue was regarding backups of his web site files which we have a unique procedure to do (which prevents large loads onto our servers so that the servers run more effectively for all our customers) and the client was informed several times as to how they can backup their information. 😠 After 2 months use, GreenGeeks suspended my account because of excesive use (200 hits a day) They refuse to talk with me on the phone and will only talk via email. Dale's account was suspended, refunded and canceled not due to overuse of bandwidth but due to overuse of the processors. As we tell all of our potential clients if they have web sites that are going to have excessive use of the processors that they are not recommended in a shared web hosting environment, this is a standard throughout the industry. In these cases we recommend that they purchase a dedicated server so that they can use as much of the processor loads as they like. We offer dedicated server for $160/mo.

Our bandwidth is unlimited as bandwidth in the last few years has become very inexpensive and we have large bandwidth pipes to the internet and our clients site load fast, they are on the same bandwidth as our GreenGeeks.com site and we have thousands of visitors per day.

😁 I started using GreenGeeks a few months ago as I wanted to expand my reseller hosting business. I loved the green aspect and felt that passing that off to my customers would be a good marketing tool. 😠 When I started with Green Geeks they were good. I had a reseller account with them and while there the server I was on crashed, and there have been issues since then. They have also disabled SpamAssassin and the cPanel backups function, stating the are too resource intensive. Trying to get backups of my clients when moving was a nightmare. There were also numerous connection failures reported by monitoring services, and FTP or cPanel file manager uploads averaged 3-10kbps which is pathetic. When brought to supports attention, the standard reply was that there were no errors reported on the server and everything appeared to be working.

I would recommend avoiding Green Geeks, unless you don't care about performance, spam, or backups.

Steve was a reseller customer of ours and decided to leave. Thank you for allow me to address address his complaint. First, Spam Assassin is a program which can become intensive and which at times we may need to temporarily disable on a server by server basis but which is never permanently disabled and which was not permanently disabled on his server. When we disable Spam Assassin it is usually for no more than several minutes while the admins work on a particular server.

Backups of files in a shared server environment can cause high disk loads especially when a client backs up their files several times to the server, a case in point is that we had a client with a 2 GB site who backed up their site 40+ times, so their 2GB site was actually using ov er 80GB of disk space. The proper way to backup your files so that you have hem is to back them up to your local computer and not to the server which is what we recommend and [...]

😁 GreenGeeks is a great web hosting company. I have their reseller service and I have to say, since signing up with them, I have yet to experience some downtime. The technical support is very friendly and supportive, they go out of your way to help you. In my experience, I had a customer that had an issue that I had no idea about, they went through the effort of making me understand it so that I can properly relay it to my customer. Now that's a true partnership! They are some what slow to respond to tickets after 12AM to respond to tickets, but their live chat is always available and answer within a few seconds!

I had a difficult time finding a partner to work with for my hosting business. I am glad I came across these guys! They've made doing web hosting very easy. Especially since I don't have to deal with "my web site is down" requests from my customers!

😁 I run a business that requires my web site to be up, 24/7. All the time. No questions asked. I researched GreenGeeks and felt that they were the ones that took extra care at what they do, a clear indication of that was their price (double the cheap, useless hosters). I'm very glad that I did the research. I have yet to go down and communication with technical support is rapid and useful. I've had great experiences with Karl, Josh, Derek and Chris.

😁 GreenGeeks has been an outstanding web hosting company for me so far. I've migrated from another cPanel hosting provider that just had a horrible time keeping their servers up and their support sounded like robots, same excuses! Not with GreenGeeks! I'm always able to get someone on their live chat and their telephone guys answer very quickly. They do escalate the issues from live chat for certain issues, but their support gets back very fast.

😠 Avoid this company like the flu. I've been in IT for over 30 yrs, writing websites for 12.
Need to move my clients to a new host. Chose Green Geeks. First revies I found we not bad but after I started digging. Lost a week trying to get a simple stat package working.

Anyone who has used this program before knows that it is a severely limited web site statistics program that has come with the cPanel control panel for as long as I can remember.

In addition we attempted to keep Chris Kauminiski as a reseller client and we did try several attempts to keep his business when he had requested a refund. Our attempts to keep him as a client stemmed from the fact that we knew he and his clients would be better served if he stayed and used a better stats program. In searching through our tickets and communication with Chris the stats program issue seemed to have been the only complaint by him about our service. Ultimately he decided to go elsewhere and he was refunded.

😠 This is the worst hosting company I have dealt with since beginning to host sites over 8 years ago. Their price is average, their features are standard features for CPanel hosting, and they are 300% green. The green part is what motivated me to sign up but it was the worst mistake I made.

First I tried to use shared SSL. Didn't work, support advised me that “shared SSL is 1998 technology” and that I should pay $30 for dedicated IP and $15 for SSL. Why should I when shared SSL was advertised as a feature. I had to send Trey and email, and he did get it resolved. The whole process took 2 weeks; unfortunately the shared SSL is self signed, so it gives a warning and causes a red address bar in browsers. I just let it go, even though other hosts have shared SSL that won't cause browser warnings, I thought not a big deal, I'm helping the environment.

I have been in touch with Joshua as a client and involved in some of the areas of his complaint here, specifically the shared SSL so when I saw this complaint, the length and detail of it and the specifics I wanted to make sure that I got in touch with Joshua and tried to resolve as much of this as possible.

I called Joshua this morning from our company phone, I wanted to make sure Joshua knew it was us calling and when someone got on the line, I asked for his name and I was hung up on. His phone should have identified Green Geeks as the caller. I called right back thinking that perhaps the line went dead by mistake and I got no answer. I called back several more times from our company phone and no one ever picked up, this was at the Joshua’s corporate phone number midday on Wednesday October 14th.

😁 I recently subscribed to the GreenGeeks reseller web hosting service after learning about their recent green efforts. I thought it was very cool and decided that my customers would also enjoy the fact that their web sites are hosted "green". My issue was moving half a dozen web sites from Hostgator, since I've never moved from a provider to provider before. I contacted their sales and they claimed to have a free cPanel to cPanel migration service, which I thought was cool. After a few hours of sign up, my accounts were moved from Hostgator to GreenGeeks! It was the easiest thing ever!

Josh and Karl did a wonderful job walking me through the process and keeping me in the loop during the entire migration, kudo's to them!

😞 I purchased reseller account at Green Geeks and had a couple of problems during my first few weeks.


First, a DNS problem, I needed to contact level 2 support via email because the tech representative who attended on me via live chat isn’t knowledgeable enough to solve the problem. Actually he can’t figure out the problem and keeps on insisting that everything was okay. I was very frustrated. Next, all my sites were down and I can’t load my cPanel or connect through FTP. I Contacted tech support via email and the first reply I got was, again, “Everything’s okay”. I needed to send another email and explain the problem extensively. (fortunately, I’m a web developer and so I know how web hosting stuff works. If not for my background, the problem may have continued for several days). The tech support guys don’t seem to investigate on issues thoroughly, they may have just done a couple of tests and immediately conclude that “everything’s okay”.

😞 I was VERY happy with this hosting service... for the first month. I have a reseller account, and one of my clients started having problems to recieve her company´s emails. Her crew only uses webmail, WHICH I SPECIFICALLY ASKED ABOUT in the pre sales questions.

We were adviced to use roundcube. BUT we could NEVER get it to save the configurations, as well as other minor problems. The support crew, while polite and prompt, were not able to solve it, and adviced us to change to squirrell. We did. We started having problems with html configurations almost inmediately (emails would get to the consumer in html code, with tags, almost unreadeable)

Yes, they DO answer within half an hour. (forget the "online" chat. they will always send you the email system if is anything more complicated than 2+2) but all we got was "this has been scalated to level 2" then to level 3. At which point we were adviced to use OUTLOOK.

🗨 Unfortunately this reseller was unable to use the webmail systems we provide to their satisfaction. Through our cPanel we provide Horde, Squirel and Round Cube webmail. Each of these webmail systems are provided through 3rd parties and are available free in our email systems. Our servers are configured exactly as the specifications are required for the webmail to work.

Unfortunately the internal structure and functionality of webmail is not as sophisticated as you see in other email clients. I personally use Squirel mail while on the road but I make sure to backup to my outlook account when I am back at the office.

We worked with Sophia to try to allow her client to do what they had intended to do with the webmail system however as also advised her that the best way for her to move forward was to use a different mail client to do the specific things she wanted to do which webmail is not best suited for.

The pending order did show a paypal transaction but the funds were placed on hold by the buyer and due to fraud that comes through paypal and the fact we could not confirm the order that the order was not setup. We have since refunded the transaction as a fraudulent paypal order.

😁 I have been with GreenGeeks only a short time, as I've indicated, but in that short time I must say I have been very impressed.

I was forced to move from my former hosting service (FutureQuest) due to memory constraints. I am using the Drupal CMS to build my site and have made liberal use of a large number of very helpful modules. In fact, I had created so many new content types and used so many contributed modules that the memory limits at FQ prevented me from being able to administer key areas of my site!

The move from my former host was handled very well and done in a timely manner even with my interference (I'm very hands on).

Because I don't care much for CPanel I cannot give it a great rating. However, the ability to utilize ftp and ssh more than makes up for any type of control panel. It allows one to administer like an administrator.

It would've been a nightmare if I had to do it on my own. Since then, the servers are faster, the support is better, and the price/quality of the service is 100x better.

😁 I run my business web site with GreenGeeks and I was affected by the outage as well a week ago (probably same server) but I have to say that they handled the situation to my satisfaction. I moved over from a host that recently had an issue that was similar to what happened at GreenGeeks, but they lost all our files and had absolutely NO communication. GreenGeeks kept me up to date on the outage, they answered my tickets, live chat and had a status on their phone system. The best thing was that they were able to restore all of our files after such a disaster and that in my books bodes well.

I suffered 60 hours of downtime, I didn't lose a year's worth of e-mails and I was back to business as soon as they got us back up. They also offered a resolution and gave us a credit. There is nothing much else you can ask for.

😠 After 3 weeks hosting my web site at Green Geeks, the hosting server had a crash. My site was down for nearly 60 hours. During this time, no support was available over the phone and only a few emails went out to customers about the problem. Each email was overly optimistic and promised to have all sites back up very shortly. This obviously did not happen. When I finally got someone on the phone he was juggling the conversation on speaker phone while pounding away on his keyboard responding to other customers' emails, etc. After the server was back up Green Geeks offered 3 free months to all customers, but customers had to send an email request to receive this offer rather than having it automatically applied.

Less than one week after this outage, a server reboot caused my website to be down again. The reboot was at 2AM and my site was still down at 10AM. During and after this outage phone calls were not answered, voicemails and emails were not returned, and no explanation [read more...]

During the entire event we had multiple communication avenues communicating with customers via phones (which were busy and fairly difficult to get through) as well as chats (which was our best means of immediate communication) and emails (which sent 8 total updates to the customers during the outage). I Personally manned the chats and calls along with all of our support personnel and I personally was on chat with Kyle several times during the outage communicating with him about what was happening.

In addition during and after the outage I made 2 phone calls to Kyle as I did with several other customers who had asked for or in Kyle's case demanded a personal follow up call from [...]

😁 I am very happy I have found GreenGeeks. I have been with several hosting companies the last few years and none of them compare to the service that GreenGeeks offers.
